Executive functions(EF) don’t just develop, there is a genetic floor. I researched EF in high mid and low performing KC classrooms in a urban midwest city and found a vast difference in executive dysfunction. Highest in low performing schools. To raise the learning there must be a shift in early childhood curriculum to focus on improving EF. If a child has little impulse control to start the focus process there will be no improvement.

It's interesting how you've so clearly articulated the systemic impact of early childhood dysregulation, moving beyond individual incidents to a broader educational challenge. The data on kindergartners' struggles truly underscores the urgency of proactive interventions, especially given how foundational self-regulation is for later cognitive development and an healthy learning ecosystem for everyone involved.
